Graphik Concepts, Inc. was launched in 1974 as Application Services, Inc. and quickly emerged as a groundbreaking service in the newly developing fleet graphics industry. In the U.S. in the early '70s only a handful of professionals held the expertise to install fleet identity decals. Graphik Concepts not only excelled in graphic design but also melded together the materials and application knowledge the Fortune 500 companies needed to make fleet graphics work.

Gateway Transportation was among our first customers. Graphik Concepts installed decals to 585 trailers for Gateway - then, 490 trailers for PPG Industries, 15 trailers for Alside Aluminum, and 10 trailers for Amway. As a result, 3M Company took notice of Graphik Concepts and began a long-term relationship out of which came new installation procedures as well as new materials for the industry.

Soon, small commercial fleet owners came to Graphik Concepts for assistance. Many had already been turned away by the large graphic production houses. Still, these customers needed identification. To meet their needs, Graphik Concepts created specialized production procedures for small quantities of markings - designing graphics, hand-cutting materials and laminating colors, to supply one-of-a-kind prototypes and signs. By combining this knowledge with outstanding installation capability, Graphik Concepts became a leader in small fleet markings.

Along the way the name of the company was changed to Graphik Concepts, Inc. reflecting the changes in the operations. Also at this time, Gerber scientific developed a computer and plotter system that could cut pressure sensitive vinyl, making it much faster to do small quantities and store the information for repeat jobs.

Today, Graphik Concepts, Inc. is located in Farmington Hills, MI., U.S.A. Housed within our 9,000 sq. ft. building is the most advanced equipment and technology our industry has to offer, including one of the largest flat bed plotters for cutting vinyl material as well as the most advanced graphics production software available. We utilize most of the major design software packages and communicate via the Internet with many of our customers. Our complete order, accounting and billing system is computer-based and can handle purchasing and billing over the Internet.

For more than 18 years, he has managed graphics for the Indy 500 race.
